Overview

The Highlander Pipeline is NJIT's campus portal. This redesign focused on the student aspect of the NJIT Pipeline. Though proven useful, the UI design is often confusing to students.

Problem

Students had trouble locating everyday resources — registration, grades, weather updates — inside the Pipeline.

Process

Started as a club whiteboard challenge: interview E-board members, capture pain points, redesign the homepage in small groups.

Role

Interviewing process, whiteboarding, and visual design.

🏁 It All Started as a Simple Club Whiteboard Challenge…

  • Redesign the pipeline homepage.
  • Get into small groups and create a short list of questions to ask users (E-board members) to identify user goals and pain points.
  • Go through the interview protocol with the users and take notes to generate ideas for improving the UI.
  • Use the class whiteboards on the wall to draw out wireframes to ultimately improve the UI/UX experience.
